Custom Performance Stickbow Strings

I started building custom strings in the early 1980s, and started building performance Fast Flight strings in the later 1980s when fast flight material first emerged on the market for compound bows only.

All this before stickbows were even starting to be classified as Fast Flight rated.

I was one of the first, if not The First to ever dive into experimenting, and testing of fast flight, and performance fast flight strings for stickbows, and was the first with exception to maybe one other person to start experimenting with the concept of low strand count "skinny" strings. I know what works. I know what don't.

30 plus years of experience, and testing enable me  to offer you a combination of construction and material, that provide you with some of the BEST QUALITY & BEST PERFORMING strings available.

My strings are straight forward construction with six things built into them.

I use all of my experience to ensure the strings have:

ATTENTION:

These strings are all made of low stretch Fast Flight materials.
If you are going to place them on a vintage bow, or on a bow that is not fast flight rated,

Do So At Your Own Risk.

String specs:

Performance Specific Fast Flight strings:

These strings will have 1/2 twist per inch of overall length of string.

The accuracy of the measurements in your orders are of the utmost importance.

Lengthening of these strings is possible by untwisting them no more than half of the overall twist count.

Example - If your string is 60" it will have 30 twists in it, and you can safely untwist it to 15 twists. If your string is 64" it will have 32 twists in it, and you can safely untwist it to 16 twists.

You may add twist to these strings as needed/if needed to compensate for what small amount of creep you may have, but remember - keeping the string at, or below 1 twist per inch is key to performance, and quietness.

I use Brownell Ultra Cam only as the string material.

Due to the small diameter of this material,  9 strands produces a perfectly skinny/high performance string.

3 bundle Flemish strings only

9 strand - up to 70#

12 strand - 71 - 90#

14 strand Above 90#

String length - determined by measurement while at preferred brace height of bow.

While at brace - Measure loop nock to loop nock along the string on belly side of bow, and add 1/2 inch. Use the example below for measuring.

Standard AMO length Fast Flight strings:

3 ply Flemish strings only

Standard AMO string lengths & strand counts may also be built upon customer’s request.

These strings will have one full twist per overall length of string for easy adjustment up, or down .

The following serving length will be used for all strings both performance & Standard unless otherwise specified by customer.

Serving length  For split finger -  6.5" started bottom up at 2.5" below center line of string.

Serving length  For 3 fingers under -  6.5" started bottom up at 3" below center line of string.

Serving lengths can be customized according to customer specifications.

Some bows, like those with the higher screw in mounted elevated rest may need this.

Custom serving needs length measurements above & below customers nock point.

Follow the example below:

Materials:

Utracam - Red, Black, Orange,  Yellow, Bronze

I will be adding more colors soon.

This material will produce very little to no creep. Strings with this material have the loops padded to 18 strands. This is the only material I offer, because it is the only one that currently meets all the criteria that high performance stick bow strings should.

I will only build 3 bundle strings, but if you desire only a two color string I will make two of the bundles of the color you wish to have more accented.

Serving - .024 HALO

This serving will be fitted to the throat of Bohning Signature Nocks at all strand counts. This fit will be good for most other types of nocks being used.

Silencers - Acrylic Yarn Puff 36 X 2" strands

Colors - Red, Black, Orange,  Yellow, Bronze, CAMO

Limit 3 color combinations only.

If ordering with string - Unless otherwise specified, the silencer colors will match the string colors.

Loop Construction:

Loop construction is an integral part of a performance string. Loops must be constructed to minimize material while still maintaining their structural integrity.

The following picture shows the length of the loops I build. Notice the distinct uniform taper from the loops to the tag end run outs of the twist. The end of the tape is at the last tag run outs.

This illustration is each end of a recurve string. Loops for longbow strings are made smaller.

Constructing the loops in this fashion enables me to minimize the overall size, and weight of the string at the limb tips. This aids in overall performance for both recurve & longbow, but also produces a quieter shooting string, especially when used on recurve bows where the force of slap is considerably reduced by this type of construction.

Conditional 1 Year

If a string fails within the first 6 months after purchase, you can send it back to me for inspection. If it is determined the failure was due to material, or construction of the string, I will replace it for Free.

If a string fails after 6 months, but before 1 year after purchase, you can send it back to me for inspection. If it is determined the failure was due to material, or construction of the string, I will replace it for Half Price.

Failures outside the spectrum of material, and construction are easily determined,

and will not have any  warranty.

Describe each string individually -  length of string (Performance Specific or AMO)//type of nock you use//split finger or 3 under//type of bow & length//bow draw weight//color selection for each//silencers Yes, or No//silencer color combo (limit 3 color) - unless otherwise specified the silencer colors will match the string colors.

Also include any special instruction such as changes in serving lengths & placement for each.
