"WEB BUZZ"
What's happening in the web world of traditional bow hunters?
Who's going where? With Turkey season winding down and tournament season kicking off, competitive shooting is starting to see it's usual spurt of interest across the boards Hottest tournament topic of tradbow forums today is the IBO World traditional championship. Taking place Sept. 12-13, 2009. This shoot will be hosted by Gem city Outdoorsmen in McKean, Pa. There will be a total of six separate men's classes and two women's classes. The IBO has also posted new rules and changes on their website. To read more visit, http://www.ibo.net/iboNews.php
Helping out Many forums have auctions and benefits to help people in need. It seems the biggest heart string a traditional bow hunter has is a sick child. If you would like to help out by buying or donating to any of these here's a few places you can go to. B4K auction, date not set yet on www.outdoorcore.com To Learn more about Benfit4Kids you can visit, http://www.b4k.org/kids.htm
New Kid on the block Every day sees another message board, forum, or website pop up. Some are great, some are OK and some die before they ever get kicked off. One of the coolest new sites I've found lately is TradRag.com It has a neat, nostalgic lay out that's easy on the eyes and seems to have a core group of some of the thriftiest and hands on members on the net. The amount of craftsmanship and skill displayed in the forums is staggering. With everything from bowyers to custom gunsmiths posting, these guys are goooood. The most refreshing thing about tradrag is it seems the internet hoodlums haven't found this place yet. So if you are a hoodlum or pot stirrer, or someone who would just rather rub folks the wrong way instead of being a beneficial member? Please jump to the next topic and ignore this. The site is owned, operated and administrated by one person which makes it a very tight ship. Bryan makes his living in front of a computer so he knows what he's doing and keeps the site running very smoothly. Tradrag.com specializes in two old school hunting ways. Traditional bows, and traditional side lock fire arms. As a budding new flint lock fanatic, I personally find this site very entertaining. You can Visit Bryan and the hunters of tradrag at http://www.tradrag.com/Welcome.html
Hottest topic TAG Ricky Welch! You're it. With Ricky's shooting school, videos and stack of tournament buckles and trophies over flowing the back of a dump truck, his name has quickly become the most clicked tag on internet trad forums. Considering he's unseated topic tags such as “Is 50#s enough” , “Are black widows worth the money?”, “Gap versus instinctive” and anything to do with “testing on a dead cow”, it seems Ricky has acquired quite the following. With the way Ricky shoots? Who can blame people!
Newest trend Howard Hill is making a come back! With 3 piece longbows being all the talk and tradbow speeds going over 200fps every time you turn around, I'm finding it refreshing and revitalizing that not only “D” style longbows, but self bows as well are seeing a resurgence in popularity. With carbons and 300gr points ruling the arrow roost, it's nice to see some trad hunters going back to the simple wooden stick with a good ol fashioned 160gr 2 blade on it. For those of you participating in this new trend? Kudos! And give it what you have. For those that's always been on this road? Thank you and you have my respect.
